Cystoureteroscopy with removal of a ureteral stone and stent placement is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the urinary tract, particularly ureteral stones or obstructions. During the procedure, a cystoscope—a thin tube with a camera and light—is inserted into the urethra and guided into the bladder. From there, a smaller, flexible ureteroscope is advanced through the ureter and into the kidney to visualize the urinary tract. If a stone is identified, specialized instruments may be used to grasp and remove the stone. Additionally, if a ureteral stent is present, it may be removed or replaced during the same procedure to promote urine flow and prevent obstruction. Recovery from cystoureteroscopy with stone removal and stent placement is typically quick, with most individuals able to return home the same day. Mild discomfort, urinary urgency, and blood in the urine are common after the procedure and usually resolve within a few days.
