Direct Vision Internal Urethrotomy (DVIU)

Direct Vision Internal Urethrotomy (DVIU) is available through Mark Cuban Companies Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.

Direct Vision Internal Urethrotomy (DVIU) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat urethral strictures, which are narrowings or blockages in the urethra that can cause difficulty urinating. During the procedure, a cystoscope—a thin tube with a camera and light at the end—is inserted into the urethra to visualize the strictures. A specialized instrument is then used to make a small incision or cut in the scar tissue causing the stricture, allowing for improved urine flow. DVIU is typically performed under local or general anesthesia and is often done on an outpatient basis, meaning patients can usually return home the same day. Recovery from DVIU is generally quick, with most patients experiencing improved urinary function shortly after the procedure.
