Knee Arthroscopy with Meniscectomy
Knee Arthroscopy with Meniscectomy is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Knee arthroscopy with meniscectomy is a surgical procedure used to treat tears in the meniscus, which are common injuries in the knee joint. The meniscus is a C-shaped cartilage structure that acts as a cushion and stabilizer between the thigh bone (femur) and shin bone (tibia). During the procedure, small incisions are made around the knee joint, and an arthroscope—a thin, flexible instrument with a camera—is inserted to visualize the interior of the knee. Surgical instruments are then used to trim or remove the torn portion of the meniscus. This allows for the alleviation of symptoms such as pain, swelling, and mechanical symptoms like catching or locking of the knee. Knee arthroscopy meniscectomy is typically performed as an outpatient procedure and is associated with faster recovery times compared to traditional open surgery. Post-operative care may involve a period of rest, physical therapy, and gradual return to normal activities.
