Extensor Tendon Repair (Hand)
Extensor Tendon Repair (Hand) is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Finger tendon extensor repair is a surgical procedure aimed at restoring function to a damaged or ruptured extensor tendon in the finger. The extensor tendons are responsible for straightening the fingers and thumb and are located on the back of the hand and fingers. Injuries to these tendons can occur due to lacerations, sports injuries, or trauma, resulting in the inability to fully extend the affected digit. During the procedure, the surgeon carefully reattaches the torn ends of the tendon using sutures, often under magnification to ensure precision. In cases of severe damage, a tendon graft may be necessary. Postoperative care involves immobilization of the finger to allow the tendon to heal properly, followed by a structured rehabilitation program to restore strength and flexibility.
