Distal Interphalangeal Joint Fusion (Finger)

Distal Interphalangeal Joint Fusion (Finger) is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.

Distal interphalangeal joint fusion, also known as DIP fusion, is a surgical procedure performed to address severe arthritis, instability, or deformity in the distal interphalangeal joint of the finger. This joint is located at the tip of the finger and is commonly affected by conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or traumatic injuries. During the procedure, the damaged joint surfaces are removed, and the adjacent bones are fused together using screws, plates, or other fixation devices. Fusion of the joint eliminates pain by immobilizing the joint and preventing bone-on-bone contact, while also stabilizing the finger and improving its alignment. Following surgery, patients typically undergo a period of rehabilitation to regain strength and function in the hand and finger.
