Bilateral Myringotomy with Tubes (BMT)
Bilateral Myringotomy with Tubes (BMT) is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Bilateral Myringotomy with Tubes (BMT) is a surgical procedure commonly performed on children to treat chronic ear infections and persistent fluid accumulation in the middle ear. During the procedure, a small incision is made in the eardrum (myringotomy) to drain fluid and relieve pressure. Then, tiny tubes (tympanostomy tubes) are inserted into the eardrum openings to maintain aeration and prevent fluid build-up. This helps to reduce the frequency of ear infections, improve hearing, and alleviate associated symptoms such as pain and discomfort. The tubes typically remain in place for several months to a year and often fall out on their own as the eardrum heals.
