Frenulectomy
Frenulectomy is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Frenulectomy, also known as frenectomy or frenulotomy, is a surgical procedure involving the removal or modification of a frenulum, which is a small fold of tissue that restricts the movement of an organ or part of the body. This procedure is commonly performed in the oral cavity, particularly to address issues with the lingual frenulum (the tissue connecting the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth) or the labial frenulum (the tissue connecting the inside of the upper or lower lip to the gum). A lingual frenulectomy is often indicated for individuals with tongue-tie (ankyloglossia), a condition where the lingual frenulum is too short or tight, restricting tongue movement and potentially causing speech difficulties, feeding problems in infants, or oral hygiene issues. Labial frenulectomy is performed when the labial frenulum causes a gap between the front teeth or contributes to gum recession. The procedure is relatively quick, typically performed under local anesthesia, and involves minimal recovery time, allowing for improved mobility and function of the affected area.
