Ear Tubes Surgery

Ear Tubes Surgery is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.

Myringotomy, including aspiration and/or eustachian tube inflation, is a surgical procedure performed to alleviate pressure and fluid buildup in the middle ear, a condition known as otitis media with effusion (OME) or glue ear. During the procedure, a small incision is made in the eardrum (tympanic membrane) to create an opening, allowing the trapped fluid to drain out. This incision may also facilitate the removal of thickened or infected fluid from the middle ear using gentle suction (aspiration). Additionally, eustachian tube inflation may be performed to equalize pressure and improve ventilation in the middle ear. This involves inserting a tiny tube through the incision to allow air to enter the middle ear, promoting drainage and reducing the risk of fluid accumulation. Myringotomy with aspiration and/or eustachian tube inflation is typically performed under general anesthesia in children and local anesthesia in adults as an outpatient procedure.
