Sesamoidectomy

Sesamoidectomy is available through Mark Cuban Companies Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.

Sesamoidectomy is a surgical procedure performed to remove one or both sesamoid bones located beneath the big toe joint in the foot. These small, round bones are embedded within the tendons and act as pulleys, providing leverage and support for the big toe during movement. Sesamoidectomy is typically recommended for individuals with chronic sesamoiditis, a condition characterized by inflammation, pain, and dysfunction of the sesamoid bones, often due to overuse, trauma, or biomechanical abnormalities. During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision over the affected area and carefully removes the sesamoid bone(s), taking care to preserve nearby structures such as tendons and nerves. The goal of sesamoidectomy is to alleviate pain, improve function, and restore mobility in the foot. Post-operative care may involve wearing a splint or boot to support the foot during the healing process and undergoing physical therapy to promote recovery and prevent recurrence of symptoms.
