Ankle Fracture ORIF
Ankle Fracture ORIF is available through Mark Cuban Companies Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Ankle fracture open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is a surgical procedure performed to realign and stabilize a broken ankle bone through the use of hardware such as screws, plates, or rods. An ankle fracture typically occurs as a result of trauma, such as a fall, sports injury, or car accident, and may involve one or more bones of the ankle joint, including the tibia, fibula, or talus. During the ORIF procedure, the surgeon makes an incision over the fractured area to access the bones and then carefully repositions them into their proper alignment. The fractured bones are then held in place with specialized implants, which are secured to the bone surface with screws or other fixation devices. This internal fixation allows for proper healing of the fractured bones while maintaining stability and alignment of the ankle joint. Ankle fracture ORIF is usually performed under general or regional anesthesia and may be done as an outpatient procedure or require a short hospital stay, depending on the severity of the fracture and the patient's overall health. Following surgery, patients typically undergo a period of immobilization in a cast or splint, followed by physical therapy to regain strength, flexibility, and function in the injured ankle.
