Bunionette (Metatarsal Head) Excision
Bunionette (Metatarsal Head) Excision is available through Mark Cuban Companies Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
A bunionette (metatarsal head) excision is a surgical procedure performed to correct a bunionette deformity, also known as a tailor's bunion, which occurs at the base of the fifth metatarsal bone on the outer edge of the foot. This condition is characterized by the protrusion of the metatarsal head, causing pain, inflammation, and difficulty with shoe wear. During the surgery, the surgeon makes an incision over the bunionette and carefully removes a portion of the metatarsal head to reduce its prominence and alleviate pressure on the surrounding tissues. The goal of the procedure is to improve foot alignment, relieve pain, and restore function to the affected area. Depending on the severity of the deformity and the patient's individual needs, additional procedures such as soft tissue release or realignment of the fifth metatarsal bone may be performed. Following the bunionette excision, patients may require a period of immobilization in a surgical boot or cast, followed by physical therapy to regain strength, flexibility, and function in the foot.
