Plantar Fasciotomy - Tarsal Tunnel Release
Plantar Fasciotomy - Tarsal Tunnel Release is available through Mark Cuban Companies Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Plantar fasciotomy with tarsal tunnel release is a surgical procedure aimed at addressing two common causes of foot pain and dysfunction: plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel syndrome. Plantar fasciitis involves inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, while tarsal tunnel syndrome involves compression of the tibial nerve as it passes through the tarsal tunnel—a narrow space on the inside of the ankle. During the procedure, the surgeon makes incisions in the plantar fascia to release tension and relieve pressure on the affected area, thereby alleviating symptoms of plantar fasciitis. Additionally, the surgeon releases any structures compressing the tibial nerve in the tarsal tunnel to address symptoms of tarsal tunnel syndrome. This combined approach aims to improve foot function, reduce pain, and restore mobility in patients experiencing both conditions. Post-operative care may involve wearing splints or boots to support the foot during the healing process and undergoing physical therapy to promote recovery and prevent recurrence of symptoms.
