Medial Branch Block - Lumbar/Sacral
Medial Branch Block - Lumbar/Sacral is available through Mark Cuban Companies Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
A lumbar or sacral medial branch block is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and manage lower back pain originating from the facet joints of the lumbar or sacral spine. Facet joints are small joints located between each vertebra in the spine, and they can become a source of pain due to inflammation or irritation. During the procedure, a local anesthetic is injected near the medial branches of the spinal nerves that innervate the facet joints in the lumbar or sacral region. This temporarily numbs the nerves, providing pain relief and helping to identify if the facet joints are the source of the pain. If the patient experiences significant pain relief after the injection, it confirms the diagnosis, and further treatment options, such as radiofrequency ablation, may be considered.
