The Golf Lab — $595
The Golf Lab costs $595 in cash through NYU Langone Sports Performance Center. That is the whole price: you pay it when you book, and no bill follows.
The Golf Lab at NYU Langone Health is a three hour evaluation with you and 2 other golfers. It’s a great way to bring in some of your golf buddies or some people for your foursome. It’s comprised of 1.5 hours of individual assessments.| The assessments include a 2D video analysis of your swing, a golf specific stability and mobility assessment, and a performance lesson with our golf pro using a golf simulator. Each of these assessments is about a half hour. After that, you and the other two golfers will all meet in a board room where we watch and analyzes your video in real-time. We look at all the data we have collected in all of your assessments and try to figure out how to improve your performance and/or reduce or prevent injury based on your body’s physical capabilities. We also look to the research and science when making these recommendations. We prescribe golf drills and specific exercises that you can start the next day. | About 2-3 weeks after the lab, you will receive a very comprehensive report with all of your results from the evening, which will also include a progression of the exercises given to you the night of the lab. Included in the price is a 60 min follow-up session with an exercise physiologist to review the exercises and provide progressions as needed.| We look at this as a long-term investment in your golf career. The goal of the golf lab is to keep you injury free and improve your performance.| Our experienced team of physical and occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, and golf pros analyze swing, golf -specific fitness and overall fitness in order to provide specific recommendations to decrease risk of injury and improve golf performance. During the clinic the golfer will receive the following one-on-one evaluations:| • Golf Swing Analysis| > Movement sequence and swing timing| > X Factor (difference between rotation of shoulders and pelvis)| > Swing characteristics that have been shown to lead to decreased performance and increased injury risk | > Ball trajectory and ball direction| > Body Positions effecting accuracy and injury risk| > Shaft angles| • Stability and Mobility Assessment| The golfer completes a series of sports specific physical tests and measures designed to identify asymmetries and imbalances that can increase a golfer’s risk of injury. The stability and mobility assessment will also assist in the detection of biomechanical faults that may be contributing to decreased golf performance.| • Performance Lesson| A golf pro takes you through a lesson to address specific factors that affect performance. Real-time feedback is provided to help improve your game. | > Golf Simulator-Opti Shot| SCOTT YOUNG BIO: Mr. Young is a AAA-rated Professional Golfers Association of Australia member, and has been a member of the organization for 18 years. As a touring golf professional, he has traveled the globe for 10 years playing in more than 80 full tour events, Mr. Young combines personal experience in pure ball striking with knowledge of human physiology and golf specific biomechanics. | • Group Review of Golf Video| After the evaluation is complete, the golfers meet with the entire team to review their video. During this time we are able to tease out the golfers swing faults and compare this information to what was found during the strength and flexibility assessment and performance station. The information is then synthesized in real-time and the golfer receives recommendations based on the team’s findings. These recommendations include take-home exercises and drills.| • Personalized Final Report| Two-three weeks following the lab, the golfer receives an individualized report that includes a detailed summary and analysis of their results and customized recommendations. The report includes the following:| > Online access to your evaluation video | > Detailed assessments from all evaluations that were done in the lab.| > Customized exercises to address areas of improvement| > Swing Cues and videos of individualized golf drills for real-time training| • Follow Up Visit| Each golfer receives a complimentary 60 minute follow up visit with an Exercise Physiologist. This follow up visit will include a review of exercises provided in the report, golf-specific drills.| After the Golf Lab experience, there are more follow-up options to continue to improve your game, including: | • Complimentary 60 minute follow up with an Exercise Physiologist to answer your questions and review the recommendations/exercises prescribed during the lab| • One-on-one lessons with the golf pro| • Personal training packages with an Exercise Physiologist| • Re-evaluation to objectively understand your progress and gain insight on next steps for performance improvement| Golfers are able to schedule one-on-one sessions with the golf pro following the Golf Lab. Golf-specific personal training packages are also available upon request.
