Arthrodesis, Great toe (Metatarsophalangeal)
Arthrodesis, Great toe (Metatarsophalangeal) is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Arthrodesis of the great toe metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint is a surgical procedure that involves fusing the bones of the big toe to alleviate pain and restore stability. This procedure is commonly performed to treat severe arthritis, deformities, or chronic instability that have not responded to conservative treatments such as medication, orthotics, or physical therapy. During the surgery, the surgeon removes the damaged cartilage from the MTP joint and aligns the bones in the correct position. Metal screws, plates, or other fixation devices are then used to hold the bones together until they fuse into a single, solid bone. The primary goal of this surgery is to relieve pain, correct deformity, and improve the function of the toe and foot.
