Interlaminar Epidural Steroid Injection - Cervical/Thoracic

Interlaminar Epidural Steroid Injection - Cervical/Thoracic is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.

A Cervical or Thoracic Interlaminar Epidural Steroid Injection (ESI) is a minimally invasive procedure designed to relieve pain and inflammation in the cervical (neck) or thoracic (mid-back) regions of the spine. This procedure involves administering a corticosteroid medication, often combined with a local anesthetic, into the epidural space between the laminae of the vertebrae (the interlaminar space). This approach targets a broader area around the inflamed nerve roots and spinal cord, making it effective for treating conditions such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and radiculopathy (nerve pain radiating from the spine).| In the cervical region, which includes the seven cervical vertebrae (C1-C7), interlaminar ESI addresses pain originating in the neck and radiating into the shoulders and arms. In the thoracic region, which includes the twelve thoracic vertebrae (T1-T12), it targets pain in the mid-back that may extend around the rib cage and into the chest or abdomen. During the procedure, the patient typically lies face down or sits in a slightly bent position. The injection site is cleaned and numbed with a local anesthetic. Using fluoroscopic (X-ray) guidance, the physician inserts a needle through the skin and soft tissues into the interlaminar space of the epidural area.
