Epidural Blood Patch

Epidural Blood Patch is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.

An epidural blood patch is a medical procedure used to treat spinal headaches, which often occur after a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) or epidural anesthesia. These headaches are caused by a leak of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the dural sac, leading to decreased CSF pressure. During the procedure, a small amount of the patient’s own blood is drawn from a vein and then injected into the epidural space near the site of the CSF leak. The injected blood forms a clot that seals the leak, restoring normal CSF pressure and alleviating the headache. The procedure is typically performed under sterile conditions and can provide rapid and effective relief from the symptoms.
