Spinal Cord Stimulation
Spinal Cord Stimulation is available through Sports Medicine North at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is an advanced pain management technique designed to alleviate chronic pain by using electrical impulses to modify or interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain. A small device, similar to a pacemaker, is implanted beneath the skin, and electrodes are positioned along the spinal cord or peripheral nerves. These electrodes deliver electrical pulses that interfere with the transmission of pain signals, replacing them with a tingling sensation known as paresthesia. Spinal cord stimulation is often considered for individuals with chronic pain conditions, including failed back surgery syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, and neuropathic pain. It is a reversible and adjustable therapy, allowing for customization based on individual pain patterns. SCS does not eliminate the source of pain but significantly reduces the perception and impact of pain, enhancing the patient's overall quality of life.
