Nucleoplasty

Nucleoplasty is available through Sports Medicine North at a published cash price, paid when you book.

Nucleoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure designed to address certain spinal conditions, particularly those involving herniated or protruding intervertebral discs. Also known as percutaneous discectomy or coblation, nucleoplasty aims to alleviate pain and symptoms caused by disc abnormalities. The procedure involves the use of radiofrequency energy to create controlled channels within the disc, reducing pressure on the spinal nerves by removing or shrinking a portion of the disc material. This targeted decompression is performed through a small incision, typically using fluoroscopic guidance for precision. Nucleoplasty is considered a less invasive alternative to traditional open discectomy and is associated with a shorter recovery period and reduced postoperative discomfort.
