Posterior Hip Replacement
Posterior Hip Replacement is available through Sports Medicine North at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Posterior hip replacement, also known as posterior approach total hip arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure for hip joint replacement that involves accessing the hip joint through the back or posterior side of the hip. In this approach, the surgeon makes an incision along the back of the hip, allowing for direct access to the joint. The damaged or arthritic parts of the hip joint are then replaced with artificial components, including a metal femoral stem, a metal or ceramic femoral head, and a metal or plastic acetabular cup. Posterior hip replacement is often chosen based on surgeon preference, patient anatomy, and the potential for reduced muscle damage during surgery. While this approach has its advantages, including good visibility of the joint and low dislocation rates, it may require precautions in the early postoperative period to avoid certain hip movements.
