Anterior Hip Replacement
Anterior Hip Replacement is available through Sports Medicine North at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Anterior hip replacement, also known as anterior approach total hip arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure for hip joint replacement that involves accessing the hip joint from the front or anterior side. In this approach, the surgeon makes an incision at the front of the hip, allowing for direct access to the joint without detaching major muscles. The damaged or arthritic parts of the hip joint are then replaced with artificial components, including a metal femoral stem, a metal or ceramic femoral head, and a metal or plastic acetabular cup. Anterior hip replacement is chosen for its potential benefits, including a shorter recovery time, reduced postoperative pain, and decreased muscle damage during surgery. However, the approach may have its own set of considerations and precautions for the patient during the early stages of recovery.
