Laparoscopic Appendectomy
Laparoscopic Appendectomy is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Laparoscopic appendectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove the appendix, a small tube-shaped organ attached to the large intestine. This surgery is typically performed to treat appendicitis, an inflammation of the appendix that can cause severe pain and, if untreated, may lead to rupture and serious complications. During the procedure, the surgeon makes several small incisions in the abdomen and inserts a laparoscope (a thin tube with a camera) along with other specialized surgical instruments. The laparoscope provides a magnified view of the internal organs on a monitor, allowing the surgeon to locate and remove the inflamed appendix. Laparoscopic appendectomy generally results in less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery compared to open appendectomy.
