Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction
Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction is available through Sports Medicine North at a published cash price, paid when you book.
Arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a surgical procedure used to address a torn or ruptured ACL, a critical ligament in the knee joint. This procedure involves the use of an arthroscope, a small camera, and specialized instruments inserted through small incisions around the knee. The surgeon visualizes the interior of the knee joint and reconstructs the torn ACL using either autografts (patient's own tissues, commonly from the patellar tendon or hamstring) or allografts (donor tissues). Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction is preferred for its minimally invasive nature, resulting in reduced postoperative pain, faster recovery times, and smaller scars compared to traditional open surgery. The goal is to restore stability to the knee, alleviate pain, and facilitate a return to normal activities, particularly for individuals engaged in sports or activities that place high demands on the knee joint.
