Concussion
Concussion is available through Sports Medicine North at a published cash price, paid when you book.
A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury typically caused by a sudden impact or jolt to the head, face, neck, or elsewhere on the body that transmits force to the head. This injury results in a temporary disruption of normal brain function, leading to a range of symptoms that can include headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, sensitivity to light or noise, and difficulty concentrating. Importantly, concussions may not always involve loss of consciousness. The effects of a concussion are often temporary, but repeated concussions can have cumulative and long-term consequences. Diagnosis involves clinical evaluation, and imaging studies such as CT scans or MRIs are typically used to rule out more severe injuries. Rest and gradual return to activity are key components of concussion management, and individuals who sustain concussions should be closely monitored for symptoms and complications.
