Gastrocnemius Recession

Gastrocnemius Recession is available through Mark Cuban Companies Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.

Gastrocnemius recession is a surgical procedure performed to lengthen the gastrocnemius muscle, which is one of the two major muscles in the calf. This procedure is typically indicated for patients with tightness or contracture of the gastrocnemius muscle, commonly associated with conditions such as equinus deformity (limited ankle dorsiflexion) or Achilles tendon problems. During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision in the back of the calf, carefully releases a portion of the gastrocnemius muscle tendon, and then sutures it back in a lengthened position. This helps to increase the flexibility of the calf muscle, improve ankle range of motion, and alleviate symptoms such as pain or difficulty walking. Recovery involves a period of immobilization and physical therapy to optimize outcomes.
