At 18, I was in Wildwood, New Jersey, for a first time ever week long vacation with my high school buddy, Chris. On Day 2, while body surfing, I whipped my head around to get the hair out of my eyes, (not a problem now) and my neck locked up. I knew my vacation was shot until Chris said, "Mike here is a Chiropractor, he can help you"! I had no idea what that meant, and the next minute, I found out. The adjustment melted the stiffness and pain immediately. Within that hour, I knew I had been called to be a Chiropractor. | In 1982, I opened up my practice in Philadelphia. My adjusting technique was pretty traditional. Palpate the spine and introduce forces by hand to correct subluxations. Worked pretty well! | Then, in 2005, my wife and I welcomed our baby girl into the world. Naturally, the first thing I did was check her for subluxations. Using slight finger pressure, I adjusted the first bone in her neck to take pressure off her brain stem. This subluxation occurs in about 99% of births. I knew that my traditional technique could not injure my baby. But, big hands, little baby, I might miss something. So, I learned a new technique (KST). This allowed me to use a binary biofeedback protocol to ask the body what was going on and how to proceed with the proper adjustment. This technique has revolutionized how I understand the subluxation. Every moment to moment stress is recorded in the good column or bad column. When people present themselves for help, I can decipher the picture using my creative instincts to bring about the fastest resolution of the problem. It is about shifting events from the negative column to the positive column.
